A huge and varied collection of all things steam powered also lives at Preston.

With dozens of steam powered tractors, lorries and steam rollers, plus a host of ancient agricultural machinery, this is an amazing place for photography. Everything from gleaming paintwork and brass to rust and dereliction can be found. Made in the glory days of the British Empire, this 'stuff' represents a lifetime's obsessetion. You will also find maritime objects, massive and elegant stationary steam engines and all the smaller objects and paraphanlia of days gone by.

Just as eye catching are the mechanical fair organs, large and small, in the Kentish barn, plus a growing collection of wooden, steam powered fairgroud rides. The most colourful of these is the carousel, along with the many other antique rides under restoration at Preston.

If you are looking for something unusual and industrial, or the feel of a Victorian farm with elemental machinery, you will find it here in spades.
